Hurling - Intermediate
Bandon 0-13
Cloyne 2-07

Fresh from their merited success over Newcestown in mid-week Bandon Intermediate hurlers faced Cloyne away in their first Premier Intermediate hurling League game of the new campaign.

Given the inclement weather over the week-end the East Cork pitch was in excellent condition.

Both sides were missing a number of regulars but everybody involved gave of their very best from first whistle to last.

The hardy patrons who attended were treated to a good hours hurling given the time of year and we were treated to a real game of two halves.

Bandon led at half-time by 0-11 to 0-01 but had played with a very strong wind at their backs.

Great scores from Darren Crowley and Adam Murphy were the features of that first half, with Bandons defence marshalled by James McSweeney and Donough Lucey well on top.

Did Bandon collapse in the second half or how much did Cloyne improve to earn a draw 0-13 to 2-07?

Certainly the two goals were of the soft variety and brought Cloyne who were reduced to fourteen men early in the second half, back into the game.

Both green flags could probably be put down to defensive errors and ought to have been comfortably cleared.

Donough Lucey was simply outstanding in that second half, and his half back line with Joe Harrington and Philip Crowley until he tired was Bandon's strongest line.

Young minor Joe O' Mahony and James McSweeney in goal weren't far behind.

Darren Crowley kept up his recent great scoring form and Adam Murphy is showing real potential, Eoghan O'Donovan was prominent in mid-field and U21's Eoin Ryan and Rory Fogarty didn't let the side down.

Two more minors Mark O' Regan and Timmy McCarthy were introduced as subs.

James McSweeney, Darren Ryan, James Walsh, Joe O'Mahony, Philip Crowley, Donough Lucey, Joe Harrington, Eoghan O' Donovan, Rob Wilmot, Darren Crowley 0-08 (0-05 frees), Philip Murphy 0-01, Eoin Ryan 0-01, Adam Murphy 0-02, Jason Hickey 0-01, Rory Fogarty.

Subs: Mark O'Regan ,Timmy McCarthy
