Premier Intermediate Football

The Bandon Premier Intermediate Footballers  had things pretty much their own way in Round 3 of the Championship at Kealkil’s fine new ground  last Saturday evening - Bandon 6-13 Castletownbere  0-09. The first seven or eight minutes had both sides deadlocked at 0.01 each but the Castletownbere challenge pretty much collapsed as soon as Bandon had scored their first goal.

The half-time score was 4.08 to 0.01 and the game was effectively over with Bandon in the welcome position that they could empty a very impressive bench in preparation for the much sterner challenges that lie ahead and the lads face Bantry at the quarter-final stage at Ballinacarriga this Saturday at 5pm.  .

There was no denying the quality of Bandon’s football in that first half and their movement of the ball , speed , teamwork and off the shoulder running was a joy to watch .

A very good team performance overall, with Darren Crowley, David Crowley, Jonathon Mulcahy and the ever improving Mattie McNamara really catching the eye.

Team: Pat Prendergast , David Crowley , James O’ Donovan , Philip Crowley ( 0.01 ) , Tomas O’ Donoghue , Peter Murphy , Cian O’ Mahony , Jason Hickey , James Walsh , Darren Crowley (0.03 ) , Alan Johnson , Jonathon Mulcahy (1.02 ) ,  Mattie McNamara (2.00 ) , Barry Collins ( 1.01 ) , Mark Sugrue ( 1.04 )

Subs. : Eoghan O’ Donovan , Michael Cahalane , Ronan Crowley (0.01 ) , Adam Murphy ( 1.01 ) , Kevin Lucey ,

Carbery

Pat Prendergast  , Cian O’ Mahony , Peter Murphy, goal scorer Mark Sugrue and a very impressive 0.04 point contribution from Michael Cahalane were not enough to prevent Carbery footballers going under by a point in a surprise defeat to Kiskeam in Macroom on Sunday by 1.10 to 0.08 in the Senior Football Championship.
