U12A Football Runners Up Cup Final Mon 02/10/2017 - 2017-11-12

Bandon 7-14

Castlehaven  3-7

Bandon u12 footballers finished the season on a high beating  Castlehaven  to win the U12 Runners Up Football Cup final on Monday evening  in Bandon. This was a welcome consolation having lost the previous week in extra time to the eventual winners Bantry Blues.

Bandon played a nice brand of attacking football and started with all guns blazing and had 1-4 points on board in the first 6 mins . Eoin Geary finished to the roof of the net for Bandon’s first goal after a pass from Hugh O Mahony.  However,  Castlehaven hit back by moving the ball quickly on the break for 2 good goals, and could have had more only for the alertness of keeper Donnacha Mccarthy. Bandon  recovered well with the  hardworking  Darragh Collins and Ciaran Twomey on top in midfield and supplying good ball to the forwards. From that Hugh O Mahony ably assisted with great scores from play and frees  as well as being playmaker led from the front.  Darragh Power ‘s goal , Eoin Geary two points,  Ciaran Twomey and Darragh Collins point each finished the half well for Bandon. Half Time score was Bandon 2-12 Castlehaven 3-3.

In the second half Bandon tightened up considerably and powered on by a rock solid defence in Zac Canniffe, Daniel O Leary, Sean Ahern,  Dan Lane and William Allen winning plenty of ball and limiting the Haven to just  4 points.

This half belonged to Darragh Power who finished with a personal tally of 4-1 scoring 3 great goals in the second half. Darragh has a habit of getting goals when needed most and followed on from his 3 goals the previous week. Danny Crowley worked tirelessly  and Conor Payne was rewarded when he kicked home a great opportunist goal late in the second half. Substitute Liam Twomey  finished the half with a fine point. Bandon emptied the bench late in the second half and all players worked hard when introduced. The Cup was presented to captain Zac Canniffe by referee Michael O Mahony.
