Derry (Dixie) Crowley - RIP - 2018-04-21

They say “absence makes the heart grow fonder” and though exiled in the North of the Country for many years the late Derry ( Dixie) Crowley remained a Bandon man to his core. He combined this with a great passion for Cork GAA and he continued to support the County hurlers and footballers through thick and thin.

Derry played under-age and adult for the Club and coached under-age teams.

He lived and worked most of his adult life in Donegal but Croke Park was always a great half-way point to meet his fellow Bandon natives. There he would shoot the breeze with his many friends over a pint or two.

It was standard to meet Dixie in Dublin on All-Ireland final week-ends, he was always in good form and the crack and banter was endless.

How he enjoyed and celebrated Bandon’s recent County successes.

Sadly Dixie passed away, all too soon, on the 21st March 2018 and was interred in Donegal.

A Months Mind Mass for Derry (Dixie) Crowley will take place at 9.30 a.m. here in Bandon on this Saturday April 21st in St. Patricks Parish Church.

To his wife Angela and family, and to his brothers, Donal, Frank, Hilary and Paudie who are all great  supporters the Club we extend our sincerest sympathy.

Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam usal.
