Bandon GAA Statement on Championship 2020 - 2019-04-02

Last Tues 26 March 2019, Cork County Board presented three proposals for the future of Cork GAA Championship 2020 that will apply to both codes. These proposals were generated by a working group after consultation with clubs around the county using written submissions, discussion at County Board meeting with delegates and consultation workshop on Sat 9th March.


The Proposals are

Option A -> 'April & August’ 270 games, 4 Grades of 12, 3 Groups of 4 teams, 3 games, 1 game in April, 2 in August  

Option B -> ‘August Start’ 220 games, 4 Grades of 12, 4 Groups of 3 teams, 2 games, 2 games in August, No game in April  

Option C -> ‘Summer Games’ 360 games, 4 Grades of 12, 2 groups of 6 teams, 5 games, 1 game in April, 2 in August 1-2 games in May June July without County players for half points  


The Cork Clubs were invited by CCB to review the 3 proposals over the past week before the final vote will be taken tonight Tues 2 April 2019. Bandon GAA club sent these proposals by email to our members on Wed 27 March 2019 and published the Cork GAA Championship 2020 proposals on our Club social media accounts. Bandon GAA club requested feedback from our members including players, mentors, supporters and committee members. 

Following the Executive Committee meeting last night Mon 1 April 2019, Bandon GAA have directed our 2 county board delegates to vote at the CCB for Championship Proposal in the following order of preference.

1. Option B

2. Option A

3. Option C


Bandon GAA have further directed our 2 delegates to vote at the CCB for Grading 2 option.
