Hurling U16

Bride Rovers 1-11
Bandon 1-11

It was a classic case of Agony followed by Ecstasy for supporters of the Lilywhites in the past week.

On Wednesday evening last a colorful cavalcade of Bandon supporters travelled to Church Road, Blackrock for the eagerly awaited replay of the Under 16 B Hurling County Final against Bride Rovers.

Our opponents and eventual winners were first to settle bossing the opening exchanges.

A free from sharpshooter Aidan O'Mahony resulted in a goal and the equalizer on the 18th minute and Aidan converted another free soon after to tie matters up at 4 points each.

The killer score came from their goal just on the dot of half time that deceived our rear-guard that had played excellently all through and in particular goalkeeper Cian Farrell and fullback Ben Donegan.

The lads never gave up in the second period but only came as close as a two point deficit in the 10th minute and the final score was 1-5 to 1-8.

There were any number of heroes on the team as Paul Lang, Robert O'Driscoll, Gavin O'Connell, Shane Lowney and Adam Galvin made huge contributions.

Great praise is due to the team and the whole backroom team that have put huge effort all year with this team and the display on the night bodes well for the future.

Team: C Farrell, M Meany, B Donegan, C Walsh, E Hetherington, C McCarthy 0-1, N McCarthy, P Lang 0-1, R O'Driscoll, C Calnan, G O'Connell 0-1, A O'Mahony 1-2 (all frees), S Lowney, A Galvin, S O'Sullivan.

Football Junior

Bandon 1-15
Castlehaven 1-06

The ecstasy came in the form of the Junior A footballers victory over a gallant Castlehaven second team in the semi-final of the Rowa Rowex Pharma championship.

Marc Sugrue led the forwards by example and was well supported by Barry Collins (until injured in the 2nd period), David Aherne and Darren Crowley all through.

At the back Peter Murphy was outstanding.
