Hurling - Intermediate
Bandon 0-19
Castlelyons 0-12

Bandon played their opening home Division 1 Hurling League game away from home in the picturesque village of Castlelyons last Sunday (0-12 to 0-19) after our own pitch failed an early morning inspection after the deluge of Saturday night.

Fielding a somewhat experimental side, the journey proved no impediment to the Ronan Crowley captained Bandon team who raced into a 02-06 lead on 12 minutes, with Ronan scoring 4 lovely points (1free) and 2 long range points from Michael Cahalane.

James McSweeney saved well on 5 minutes, Donough Lucey hurled especially well and pin-point passes from Jason Hickey led to two more Cahalane scores and we led 07-08 at the break.

Three points by Michael (2fs') and 2 from Ronan (1f) had us 08-13 ten minutes after the re-start.

Stout defending by Andrew O'Connell, Robbie Moloney, Donough Lucey and the inspirational Cha Dullea were the foundation for this purple patch.

As the second half moved on, the returning Jason McCarthy scored nice points on the 15th and 18th minutes, substitute David Lehane and goalkeeper James MacSweeney made 3 goal line clearances and Ronan and Michael scored a brace of points each all leading to a very welcome first round victory.

Team: J MacSweeney, P Crowley, J Burke, A O'Connell, Peter Murphy, D Lucey, R Moloney, C Dullea, J Hickey, C O'Mahony, M Cahalane (0-10, 6fs'), M Minihane, Philip Murphy, J McCarthy (0-2), R Crowley (0-7, 3fs')

Subs: D Lehane for P Crowley, J O'Mahony for A O'Connell.
