| Football - Junior Bandon 5-13 Kilbrittain 0-13 With a virtually new team from that which lined out against Clann na nGael in the recent championship, early indications were deceiving in the Junior A Football League played in Kilbrittain last Monday evening. On 15 minutes we trailed 4 points to 2 with our scores coming from the mid-field pairing of Michael Minihane and Jason Hickey. We had amassed 6 wides by then and the handy number of our supporters looked worried. Alas, all of a sudden, that same mid-field partnership, the ageless John OConnell and the more youthful Donough Lucey, Barry Collins and Ronan Crowley really turned things around and we led 03-07 to 0-6 at half-time with the goals being two tap-ins by Barry Collins and a peach of an effort by Ronan Crowley. Ronan excelled in a roving roll, coming very deep to the middle of the field and linking the play between the middle and the inside forwards. The youthful Gearoid Collins put in a good shift until withdrawn mid-way through the second half and replaced by Danny Corcoran. Another to impress was Jack ONeill who scored 3 lovely points. Barry Collins and John OConnell added two further goals in that second half and Cian OMahony wrapped off the scoring 0-13 to 5-13 with a lovely right legged effort. News There was a good victory for the Junior A Hurlers away to Kilmeen/Kilbree last Thursday on a score of 1-13 to 2-12. Fixtures Premier Intermediate Hurlers are away to Dohenys on Tuesday night next 29/04 at 08.00p.m. In the final of the Michael Holland Cup. Minor Footballers are at home to Clann na nGael on Thursday next 24/04 at 07.30 p.m. Minor Hurlers will host Ibane Gaels on Sunday 27/04 at tbc. Junior B Footballers are to play Castletownbere on the same day at tbc. |
