Hurling - Junior
St Oliver Plunketts 2-13
Bandon 1-09

The Junior A hurlers gave a great account of themselves last Friday evening at Enniskeane before eventually losing out 2-13 to 1-9 against a much fancied Oliver Plunketts side in Round 1 of the Buckley Financial Championship.

This display was in sharp contrast to the lack-lustre one against Ballinascarthy the previous Sunday which finished 1-20 to 1-4 and now we look forward to their meeting against Dohenys in the losers round in a week or so.

Football - U14
Midleton 4-07
Bandon 2-03

The Under 14 footballers bowed out of the Premier 2 football championship at the quarter-final stage on Monday evening last when losing out to a strong Midleton outfit on a score of 4-7 to 2-3.

Our lads had qualified for this game on the back of a very good performance 4-6 to 2-10 over Inniscarra on Tuesday 3rd June and special mention go to Brian McSweeney in the goals and Conor Calnan at midfield for that winning display.

Team: B McSweeney, J Calnan, B Donegan, C Walsh, F Twomey, G OShea, M Laffan, C Calnan, R ODriscoll, H Lillis, E Assamota, N OFlathairtaigh, B OMahony, G OConnell, D ODonovan. Subs: N Daly, H Donegan.

The under 11 and 12 hurlers each recorded wins over Clonakilty selections in high scoring games on last Monday evening

News
The under 8 hurlers swung into action last Saturday at a blitz in Rossmore.

There was a total of twenty 7 a side teams and Bandon fielded two teams, each side playing three games.

With a travelling panel of twenty, both Bandon teams used rotating subs and this was important with so many games played.

No official scores were kept, but of course seven and eight year olds are good at maths so the Bandon players later confirmed that they won five games and drew one out of the six games played.

Bandon also provided three teenage referees for the blitz, Harry Lillis, Emily Murphy and Mark ORegan.

Under-8 training continues on Saturday mornings, 10.30 to 12 noon for boys and girls born in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Everyone is welcome.
